NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) - North Myrtle Beach police are investigating a murder after a Cherry Grove man was found dead at his home Saturday afternoon. Police arrested an individual in connection with the murder. They have not released any details about the suspect.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says the victim is Eugene Permenter, 59. Edge did not release how Permenter died because of the ongoing police investigation.

"A father and son were living at a home in Cherry Grove, and the Dad's brother was coming up to visit from the South Strand," North Myrtle Beach's public information officer Patrick Dowling told NewsChannel 15.

Dowling said the brother then walked into the house and found the man dead in the living room, with a puddle of blood next to the body.

As of Saturday afternoon police were still searching for the victim's son.

"The son lived with the victim. He was not at the home nor was his truck," Dowling said.

Police have since found the truck, but not the son. Dowling would not say if the son is a person of interest in the case.

"Police just want to talk to him," Dowling said.

Sunday, police charged Lucas James Permenter, 31, with first degree murder. Read about that story here.
