Chase suspect faces many charges

A short car chase in Surfside Beach ended in the arrest of a fugitive Wednesday morning.

Jimmy Daniel Boyd, 33, from Westminister, SC, was arrested in Surfside Beach after a brief vehicle and foot chase early Wednesday morning, according to Surfside Beach police.

Around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, a Surfside Beach police officer saw Boyd driving on Highway 17 Business, and checked his vehicle's registration, which came back as a stolen tag and vehicle.

The officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, but Boyd fled into an apartment complex west of US 17 according to police.

According to police, Boyd crashed the vehicle into a fence and fled on foot, after a short pursuit, Boyd was arrested.

Boyd is charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Blue Light and Siren, Possession of Meth, and numerous other traffic and criminal violations. He is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $13,274 bond, he also is being held for extradition from several other jurisdictions.

Police say more charges may be coming for an additional suspect.
