Arrest made in suspicious death investigation

NewsChannel 15 has learned a North Myrtle Beach man is in jail and charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found Thursday.

On Friday, police arrested 43-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Riebe. They said he strangled Phyllis Mowery at her home in North Myrtle Beach.

A spokesperson for the city said Riebe and Mowery knew each other. She was found dead in her apartment Thursday morning.

The Horry County coroner said Friday's autopsy report confirmed her cause of death as strangulation. Police have not released a motive.
