Horry County police arrested two people and they're looking for a third in connection with an ongoing investigation into several golf cart thefts on the south end of the county.
John Matthew Kondan, 30, is charged with receiving stolen goods, removal of a VIN number and criminal conspiracy. Norman Scott Horn, 43, is charged with receiving stolen goods, removal of a VIN number, criminal conspiracy, grand larceny, and chop shop operation.
Police are still looking for Richard Corey Watson, 39, on charges of grand larceny and criminal conspiracy.
Police say thefts of the golf carts peaked around the Labor Day weekend and they identified three suspects as a result of their investigation. Detectives got search warrants to search the suspects' homes and a business. They say they recovered about $44,000 in stolen property including four golf carts, one lawn mower, one vehicle, and one motorcycle. They also recovered about $1,000 worth of tools.
Detectives are still investigating and say additional arrests and charges are possible.
They're asking anyone who purchased a golf cart from the suspects, particularly in the Forestbrook area, to contact detectives at 915-5350.
