A 13-year old-Chesterfield Ruby Middle School student is in the custody of the SC Department of Juvenile Justice after she posted a message on Facebook to a 20-year-old woman about blowing up a school, according to Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker.
Parker says someone saw the message and alerted deputies. Explosive-detecting dogs searched Chesterfield Ruby Middle Monday afternoon, but didn't find anything.
Parker says he believes the two were probably just joking, but he can't take any chances with the safety of other students.
At this point, Parker says the 20-year-old hasn't been arrested. He says they haven't officially charged the 13-year-old.
Parker says he will ask the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office to determine the appropriate charge.
The girl is expected to be brought back to Chesterfield County for a detention hearing this week.
She could be released to the custody of her parents until her case heads to court.
