Friday afternoon 16-year-old Jasonn Russell spent some time with his Waccamaw High Football teammates.
Almost three weeks ago Jasonn Russell was walking to the beach with several friends when he was hit by a car. He spent more than week in intensive care but today he's up and walking with a cane, "I don't want to use the walker because that's an old persons way of getting around. I'm using a cane because I have a torn muscle and it hurts to walk."
Jasonn also suffered three broken ribs, brain trauma, and a huge chest wound from the accident. Depending on his progress he may return to school in a month.
"I've seen a lot of friends they were very worried about me. I've gotten a lot of cards from people I don't even know."
Despite his injuries Jasonn is working hard to heal and says he's most looking forward to running again on the field.
Highway Patrol officials have charged 18-year-old Thomas Gallagher with leaving the scene of an accident. He turned himself in two days after the incident.
