Message spray painted at a Florence middle school causes panic

A student has been arrested in connection to a message spray-painted on the outside of Sneed Middle School Friday morning, according to Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone.

Brown adds the incident spread to social media causing unnecessary panic among parents and the community.

The District sent an alert to parents to calm any fears and to let them know the School Resource Officer and school administrators had handled the incident

since some students originally reported there was a bomb threat at the school, which was not true.

Still, some parents chose to sign their children out of school.

Brown says school administrators have taken necessary action concerning the student who spray-painted on the building.

He says matters resume as normal at the school.

School officials also say that there are no issues which should affect the smooth operation of school beginning Monday morning.
