Florence District One superintendent candidate withdraws

There are now just three remaining candidates for Florence School District One's superintendent position.

The school district announced Wednesday that Scott Mercer has withdrawn his name from consideration.

The remaining candidates are: Angela Bain, Ph.D., Chief Human Resources Officer of School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties, Irmo; Terri Mozingo, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent, Research and Accountability, Durham Public Schools, Durham, North Carolina; and James Winbush, Ed.D., Associate Superintendent, Innovation Zone Learning Community, Charleston County School District, Charleston.

The community met Dr. Angela Bain on Monday March 17th at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center. There are two remaining opportunities to meet and greet candidates: Monday March 24th (Dr. Terri Mozingo, at the Florence Little Theater); and Monday, April 7th (Dr. James Winbush at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center). These events will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Candidates will appear separately at the PAC each evening and will be afforded an opportunity to provide 10 minute remarks which will be followed by a question and answer session.

The start date for the new superintendent is expected to be no later than July 1, 2014.
