Timmonsville town council votes to bring back financial advisor

Timmonsville town council voted during an emergency meeting Wednesday night to continue with its financial advisor Wanda Charping after Charping's resignation was deemed invalid, according to council member Penny Hayes.

Hayes said Charping's signature wasn't on the resignation paper.

Council said Charping resigned August 5, during a council meeting.

However, Charping told NewsChannel 15 council members essentially terminated her contract by voting for a detailed, forensic audit of the town's finances.

"I didn't quit. I didn't resign. I told them they essentially terminated my contract. When your client (Timmonsville) declares the accounting is fraudulent, then they (council) are stating they no longer want your services," explained Charping.

Council rescinded the vote for a forensic audit two days later.
