A 15-year-old musician who has won numerous national honors for composing music and performing, will hold a benefit concert this weekend in Florence for the March of Dimes.

Gabe Smallwood will perform on the piano, organ and harpsichord on Saturday, June 8 at 6 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Florence. Donations for the March of Dimes will be collected at the door.

In 2012, one of Smallwood's original compositions was performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He was one of only three young composers chosen from across the country as a winner of the Carmina Burana project. It was a five to seven minute piece for orchestra and chorus.

Recently, his composition, Harpsichord Sonata in E minor, won first place nationally in the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Composers Contest.
