CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Acrobats, aerialists, opera and Irish theater highlight next season's schedule for the Spoleto Festival USA.
On Friday, officials announced the lineup for the internationally renowned arts festival that will be staged in Charleston, S.C., from May 23 through June 8, 2014.
The schedule has three operas, including the American premiere of Michael Nyman's contemporary opera "Facing Goya." In addition, there will be performances by a Finnish aerialist and an Australian acrobatic troupe.
Ireland's Gate Theatre presents the gothic romance mystery "My Cousin Rachel." Grammy Award-winner BÃ©la Fleck will also appear during the festival that features artists from 14 nations and from across the United States.
The 2014 season will be Spoleto's 38th season in Charleston.
The festival was founded in Charleston by the late composer and conductor Gian Carlo Menotti.
