Soldier surprises wife and meets newborn son for the first time

One family was reunited at a special surprise homecoming in Marlboro County on Wednesday night.

Private First Class Jamie Polston, 20, has been serving with the U.S. Army for the past seven months in Afghanistan.

His wife, Skyler, had no idea he was home. She thought it would be weeks before she saw him.

The couple's family, friends, and Wal-Mart employees at the Wal-Mart in Bennettsville Square orchestrated a surprise reunion.

Skyler was told she had an early birthday gift waiting at the store from Jamie.

Instead, Jaime was there to surprise her.

While he was away, Skyler gave birth to their first child, a baby boy named Major.

"It was hard knowing I had a kid. Never having seen him before, it was really hard," Jamie said.

On Wednesday, he was finally able to meet Major, who is now four weeks old.

"It's just a good warm feeling inside knowing that they're finally together," Skyler said.

The couple will be home until the end of April. They plan to spend time with friends and family before Jamie, Skyler and Major move to Texas so Jamie can finish his service.
