Horry County police are warning about a scam where people are getting automated phone calls appearing to come from Conway National Bank.
People are asked to punch in their account numbers.
Police say this is a scam, and you should not punch in your information or give it to anyone over the phone.
HTC reported that the scam involved mobile phones. The automated call came from a number that displayed as 559-5. HTC said when you answer, there is an automated message stating that your debit card has been deactivated or your Conway National Bank debit card has been deactivated. The recipient of the call is told they can "reactivate" their debit card by entering their 16 digit account number and PIN.
HTC says several people reported receiving these calls over the weekend and Monday. Conway National Bank officials confirmed to HTC the calls are not legitimate.
