Police search for man wanted in assault

Myrtle Beach police continue to search for a suspect involved in an assault.

An intoxicated male made threats to shoot his girlfriend Monday morning around 3:35, according to Myrtle Beach police. He also told her he was en-route to their home from the Gold Club, according police.

The male arrived at his residence, 830-R Settler's Drive, and went into the residence and assaulted his girlfriend, say police. As officers arrived, the male fled the scene in a black Mercury Sedan, according to officers.

Police say the vehicle later crashed into a telephone pole at 44th Avenue North and Little River. A short time later a single shot was heard coming from the area, police say.

The vehicle was cleared, but the male had fled the scene, police say. A perimeter was set up, and a K-9 unit was called out, according to officers.

A track was conducted, but was unsuccessful. The driver has been identified, and warrants will be obtained for CDV and multiple traffic related offenses, according to police.
