Pelicans employee robbed of team's cash during game

Myrtle Beach police were called to the Pelicans baseball stadium during Monday night's game for a robbery.

An employee told police that she was walking back from picking up money from a grill stand when a young man came up behind her and pulled on the money bag containing more than $2,400 that was around her shoulder, according to a report.

The victim told police that at first she thought it was a co-worker messing with her, until she felt a second very hard tug on the bag that nearly threw her to the ground and broke the strap on the bag.

The victim says that's when he took the bag from her and ran out of the stadium, the report states.

The employee told police that she chased the offender before he ran through a hole in the bushes and jumped the fence and went towards Broadway at the Beach.

The total amount of the money stolen was $2,414, according to the report.

Police describe the suspect as being in his early 20's, 5 and half to 6 feet tall, and weighing between 150 - 170 pounds.
