Hornet Fire now 75 percent contained

Smoke fromt the Hornet Fire in the Carolina Forest area.

No change Friday in the containment level of the Hornet Fire in the Carolina Forest area that's been burning in Horry County since last Sunday.

Scott Hawkins, with the South Carolina Forestry Commission, said the fire behavior moderated because of Friday's rain, but they expect it will pick back up once drier conditions return.

Hawkins said crews monitoring the fire have had to take a break because of the threat of lightning.

The forestry commission says that around 805 acres have been burned.
