Holiday checkpoint results in 37 charges in Laurinburg

On Friday between 9pm and 1am, the Laurinburg Police Department, State Highway Patrol, Scotland County Sheriff's Office, Maxton Police Department, Rockingham Police Department and the Carthage Police Department conducted a check point on Hwy 401 near Church Street, according to a report.
Also present was the BAT Mobile from the Governor's Highway Safety Program.
There were 20 officers involved in the check point from the listed agencies.
The check point resulted in 37 charges, according to the report.
During the checkpoint, officers arrested Demetrical Andre Harrington, 35, of Bucknell Lane, in Laurinburg, according to police.
Harrington was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Maintaining a Vehicle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
