Two people were killed following three separate overnight house fires in Horry County.

The first fire started around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at a home on C Versie Street in the Wampee area, according to Horry County Fire Rescue spokeswoman, Leslie Yancey. One person inside the home made it out safely. Investigators have ruled that fire started because of a malfunctioning wood stove.

A second fire happened at 2854 Dayton Drive around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The single-wide mobile home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. One person was killed, Yancey said. Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said the victim was Billy Wayne Martin, 66. Fowler says Martin died of a heart attack during the fire. We're still waiting to learn the cause of the fire.

Horry County Fire Rescue also responded to a third fire, in a mobile home, located at 2712 Libra Circle just after midnight. Fowler said the victim is Mary Mitchell, 43. She died of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire has not been released.

The names of the victims will be released as soon as Fowler is able to contact family members.
