Donor tree tradition continues

Organ donors were honored at a Grand Strand hospital with a special donor tree.

Each year, Grand Strand Regional Medical Center puts a tree in the lobby of the emergency room that features ornaments honoring and remembering donors.

Family members of organ donors and those who received a donation were there to help decorate the tree.

"For me to be able to donate your organs so that someone else have an opportunity to live, it gives me great joy to come out and put an ornament on the tree in her memory every year," said Mary Hill who lost her 15-year-old daughter in 1994.

The tree is also decorated with organ donor cards to encourage people to register.
