Despite decision, group prays before Georgetown football game
CARVERS BAY, S.C. (WPDE) - A group prayed out loud during a moment of silence at a Georgetown County football game
the Georgetown County School District decided to no longer incorporate prayer at school related events, after the American Civil Liberties Union launched a campaign investigating religion in schools.
The group that prayed before Friday's game, did it in response to that decision.
Many people wore shirts to the Georg
town/Carvers Bay game which read, "
ears pray before we play."
Organizer Scott Stone says, "that is the very thing that sustains that hedge of protection about us and we don't want to see that torn down and we're not gonna stand by and see that torn down."
Stone says they plan to keep praying out loud before games and will continue wearing the t-shirts.
