Bennettsville man charged with murder

A Bennettsville man is in police custody following a deadly shooting Friday morning, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office.

Tyrone J. King, 25, is charged with Murder, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime and a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Deputies responded to a shooting at 418 Oriole Lane around 3 a.m. Friday. MCSO investigators found James Galloway, 48, had been shot inside the home, according to the report. Witnesses told deputies the shooting happened following an altercation between Galloway and King, who are neighbors.

The report shows King also assaulted another victim with a handgun inside the home.

King was arrested after a short foot chase with deputies.

King is being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center. He also faces unrelated charges.
