BEIJING (AP) - Double-amputee runner Oscar Pistorius has won his third gold medal at the Paralympics, taking the 400 meters to go with his victories in the 100 and 200.
The South African ran a world-record for his disability class Tuesday, clocking 47.49 seconds at the Bird's Nest National Stadium. Silver went to American Jim Bob Bizzell and bronze to Ian Jones of Britain.
The three golds were some consolation for Pistorius, who had hoped to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
Pistorius' next goal is to qualify for the world championships next year in Berlin, where he would face able-bodied runners. He is also looking toward the London 2012 Olympics.
