Coastal Carolina's Josh Norman tells WPDE Sports that he has received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine. Norman will work out in front of NFL scouts, GM's and coaches from February 22nd through the 28th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Norman becomes the second Chanticleer to receive an invite. Jerome Simpson was at the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine and still holds the record for the best broad jump with a mark of 11 feet, 4 inches. Simpson was a second round draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2008 NFL Draft. Norman has picked up multiple FCS All-American honors in his senior season. He finished his Coastal career with 12 career interceptions.
Norman will run through drills including the 40 yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three cone drill. and the 20 and 60 yard shuttle runs. CBSSports.com rates Norman the #37 cornerback in the draft pool. Norman can improve his draft stock with a solid combine workout with the main focus being on his time in the 40 yard dash.
Coastal has had two players drafted in its history. Tyler Thigpen was a 7th round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2007 draft and Simpson went to Cincy in 2008 in round two.
