On Sunday afternoon, Denny Hamlin was celebrating in victory lane at Kansas on national television. Three days later, he was in the Pee Dee serving lunch to race fans at the Darlington Bojangles as part of Southern 500 Media Day. Bojangles has signed on as the new title sponsor of the historic race and Hamlin started his day by making biscuits followed by meeting with fans at lunchtime. From there, Hamlin arrived at Darlington Raceway to hit some golf balls down the front stretch at a target of Darlington Raceway president Chris Browning.
Hamlin, who plays golf left handed, was Bubba Watson's caddy at the Masters Par 3 Contest prior to Watson's win at Augusta National. He equated his 2010 Southern 500 win like winning a major calling Darlington a special place that every driver wants to win. Hamlin also revealed that he'll unveil a special #11 paint scheme at Darlington to honor recent hall of fame inductee and Timmonsville native Cale Yarborough who also used to drive the #11 car at the Cup level.
